China introduced French Belie military vehicle technology for the first time under the care of Premier Zhou Enlai in Oct 1^st, 1965, Sichuan Automobile Plant started in Shuangqiao, Chongqing, which began the construction prelude of the first high starting point and specialized heavy military vehicle production base in China.  

Hongyan produced successively six models from year 1965 to 1976, Hongyan CQ 260, Hongyan CQ 261 were quantity produced and mainly used for military equipment, then subsequently, a series of national defense and economic construction vehicles in badly need were produced.

By referring to German MAN 3320 truck technology, Sichuan Automobile Plant researched and developed independently the CQ30290 road truck in Aug, 1983, the first civilian heavy truck was launched to the market to the market from then.

The signing ceremony of Heavy vehicle industry associates introduced Austria Steyr technology was held in Beijing in Oct, 1983. The Heavy vehicle technology transfer contract was signed in the Great Hall of the People, which opened a new round of heavy truck technology introduction in China.

The Hongyan cross-country CQ 261 took part in the National Day of 35^th anniversary parade in Oct 1^st, 1984, the national heavy truck Hongyan vehicle went across the Tiananmen square towed the missile to accept the review of the Party and the state leaders and received commendation.

The first Steyr heavy vehicle in China was assembled at the Sichuan Automobile Plant assembly line in Apr 29^th, 1985. Hongyan automobile was promoted to Steyr technology, thus the national heavy truck upgraded.

The all-wheel drive heavy desert cross-country vehicle Hongyan CQ 25.290 and CQ 15.250 first crossed the Guerbantonggute great desert known as Sea of death in Junggar basin, Xinjiang successfully, completed the 5000km loading test in Jul, 1987. The over-all properties has reached or exceeded the German Man level, challenged and did the wonder of imported vehicle crossing the desert.

Hongyan CQ30.290/Z32 dump truck produced by Sichuan Automobile Plant won the bidding for the first time in international bidding in Dec 8th, 1987, and signed the contract of supplying 20 vehicles officially. This marked that Hongyan began the first step towards the world successfully.

Hongyan vehicle was assessed as NO.1 of domestic heavy trucks in the selection event of Selection of the most popular domestic vehicle by 20 thousand drivers in Shanghai.

In the year 2003, Hongyan new Kingkan was just developed. It took the first safety test in the standard of ECER29 entire vehicle cab frontal crash test in Xiangfan national proving ground, successfully implemented the first crash of heavy truck in China, thus passed the international safety performance scientific test successfully.

Hongyan automobile was designated as specialized transport vehicle of return capsule of Shenzhou 5 in the year 2003, and completed the task satisfactorily. It did its little bit to help China’s spaceundertaking with its strong strength.

Saic-iveco Hongyan Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd was founded officially in Jun 5th, 2007. The first heavy truck joint venture that fulfilled double brand strategy of import and national brands coexist started. China’s heavy truck industry set off a third round of upsurge of technology introduction and joint venture cooperation.

Hongyan GENLYON heavy truck –  the first heavy truck with high quality, newly developed by joint venture, synchromous Europe and serve the world was launched to the market successfully in Mar 12th, 2009

Saic-iveco Hongyan Axle Company was fully completed and put into production in Jul 6th, 2015, this would reach an annual output capacity of 300thousand axles. This marked the success of the company in promoting the core competitiveness of vehicle products by construction of axle and other core components.

Hongyan gentruck and new GENLYON were launched to the market
